Mitsubishi Development (MDP) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation, a global enterprise operating businesses in over 90 countries through a network of 1,700 group companies together with 80,000 people. As a platform of mineral resources businesses of Mitsubishi Corporation, MDP has been taking on the responsibility as a key player in the Australian resource industry.
We have a long and proud presence for resource developments and investments in Australia, having begun our story in the Bowen Basin, Queensland in 1968. From our metallurgical coal mine and supply infrastructure developments through the Central Queensland Coal Associates (CQCA) Joint Venture, currently BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA), we have been supplying high quality products to global customers.
At MDP, we are committed to playing our part in addressing climate change across our value chain, and we recognise that a zero-emissions and sustainable future growth will require mineral resource materials for the manufacture of low emissions technology. Based on our 50 years’ experience, trusted partnerships and long-term commitment to Australia, we wish to continue our contribution to society through developments and investments in new resources and fields, as well as through maintaining the sustainable supply of our product, as a responsible global producer of metallurgical coal used in the steelmaking process.
We also embrace a holistic set of ambitious goals which are aligned to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. These are underpinned by Mitsubishi Corporation’s Three Corporate Principles, which are at the heart of all of our activities:
